Lamond Weather's comprehensive farm weather service has been developed to meet the individual needs of wheat and sheep farmers and pastoralists, horticulturists and other primary producers for timely weather forecasts, seasonal and extended period forecasts, and special climatological information so essential for improving the economy, efficiency and operations of present day agriculture.
The service is based on regular telephone and personal contact with our clients, in order to relate current and forecast weather conditions directly to the multitude of farming operations which are sensitive to the short-term effects of the changing nature of weather. These include severe weather, rain, humidity, dew, frosts, dry spells, heatwaves and cold snaps, light and stong winds and so on, or long term seasonal effects for the planning of grain production and stock husbandry strategies. I believe there is no substitute for direct personal conversations to provide advice in a way that the most ambitious computer or video networks cannot emulate.

Lamond Weather's seasonal outlooks have scored between 80% and 58% accuracy over past years in a severe and formal assessment for WA for the years 1984 - 1994. No formal assessment has been made yet for other states, but to date accuracy appears to be on par or slightly better than that achieved in WA. The 4 - 6 week update forecasts rate at about 75 - 85% correct and shorter term forecasts are still more accurate.
